Ever wonder how Christian Brothers’ principal, Mrs. Mary Hesser, is so calm even though she has a million things to do each day? Who makes sure we have a substitute teacher when our teachers are absent? Who helps CB’s leaders do their jobs and run everything so smoothly?
The answer? The office staff at Christian Brothers High School.
The Talon went behind the scenes and spoke with three outstanding staff members, Mrs. Donna Adam, Ms. Susanne Currie, and Ms. Rona Gordon, to find out what impact they have on the well oiled machine that is Christian Brothers High School.
In the words of Mrs. Adam, these women are “the glue” to the Christian Brothers support system – they make sure everything runs fluidly.
Mrs. Adam is a friendly face that has worked on the Christian Brothers campus for 12 years. The fun loving staff member is in charge of running the main office.
While Mrs. Adam is technically the vice principal’s administrative assistant, the friendly staff member performs many jobs that include answering the main phone line, being responsible for all of the business machines around campus, coordinating substitute teachers and parent volunteers, and being a liaison for the Lasallian Parent Ambassadors.
Another well-known CB staff member is Ms. Currie, who works in the front office. While she provides a friendly smile as late students run onto campus after the morning bell has rung, many people are unaware of what Ms. Curie actually does.
For starters, Ms. Currie is the facilities coordinator. She is in charge of the online bookstore and also assists Ms. Janis Hoffart with the attendance. She has been on the Christian Brothers’ staff for more than 18 years, longer than most seniors have been alive.
Also a veteran staff member, Ms. Gordon is Mrs. Hesser’s administrative assistant. She carefully coordinates Mrs. Hesser’s schedule and takes minutes at meetings that involve academics, technology and school operations. The friendly staff member is also in charge of creating the online school calendar, and formatting the Falcon Family Newsletter that we look forward to every month.
Despite being super busy, these ladies always have time to greet everyone with a smile.
“From the moment someone steps foot on campus our goal is to make them feel welcome, whether they are students, parents, alumni, guests, or future Falcons,” Ms. Currie said.
The next time you happen to see these women around campus remember all they do to make Christian Brothers “the place to be”.
