A Talon editor relays her experiences from the sidelines of Holy Bowl XLII.
Among all the roaring and cheering, standing among the towering and spirited Christian Brothers football players gave a unique perspective to the biggest football game of the year.
“We can do it! Keep fighting! Don’t back down! Keep your head in the game!” encouraged the CB football players to one another.
Varsity Head Coach Mr. George Petrissans, repeatedly encouraged his players to keep fighting until there was no more time on the clock. He remained level-headed during turbulent and frustrating times of the game. Not once did he stop believing that his players were indeed the best on the field.
Some players such as Ben McFadden (’13) and Avery Baker (’13) remained composed while having a pensive look on their faces regardless of the status of the game. Other players such as Ryan Graggs (’14), Michael Rose (’13), and Vinnie Johnson (’13) screamed at the top of their lungs and motivated their teammates by recognizing their efforts and spectacular plays.
The team remained positive and maintained great sportsmanship throughout the game even as our as the players showed excitement or frustration at each play.
Though the highly anticipated game of the year did not result as we had hoped, our Falcons truly gave it all they had. They played with grit, determination and most importantly, heart.
Standing along the sideline taking photos was one of the most unforgettable moments I have ever experienced as a CB student. Feeling the first hand rush of excitement after a touchdown or running aside the players to capture the perfect the moment, summed up my successful Holy Bowl experience.
Our CB community stood together throughout the entire game with integrity, relentless passion and perseverance whether it was on the field, among the fans or even along the sideline.
