The Junior Falcon cheerleaders have always been an active cheer squad but they have recently become a larger part of the CB community.
The Junior Falcons cheerleading squad graced thousands of Falcon fans with their presence at Holy Bowl in an effort to be more involved in the community as well as get their name out in the community.
The team consists of elementary school girls, ages five to thirteen and their coaches include high school volunteers and active moms.
One of the coaches is former cheerleader and CB senior Sydney Lovell (’13), who gives the girls guidance from her experiences. The girls have grown accustomed to cheering Saturday morning games for the Junior Falcon football players, usually just in front of the comfort of their parents, .
Cheering at Holy Bowl in front of thousands of fans was a whole new ball game for the girls, but they exceeded the expectations of many and cheered a fantastic game.
“In preparation we ran practices more like a high school cheer team,” Sydney says. “If they messed up we would start ove, and we pushed them to always do their best.”
At Holy Bowl, the Junior Falcons Cheerleaders assisted the Christian Brothers Varsity, JV and Freshmen cheer teams as they cheered the football team into the stadium. They also cheered the first quarter alongside the high school team on the track next to the field.
The Junior Falcons even had a slight competition of their own as they performed after the Junior Marauder Cheer Team took the field at halftime of the JV game.
The Junior Falcons have proven their dedication and ability to have confidence under pressure and we can all expect to see more from them.
“Come watch their hard work on Saturday mornings!” says Coach Lovell.
