Holy Bowl Dress Code 101

Find out what spirit attire is appropriate for this year’s Holy Bowl.

Christian Brothers has made the upmost effort in recent years to encourage suitable spirit attire for the big football game of the year: Holy Bowl. The purpose is not to minimize the spirit shown at the game, but to make sure students keep their outfits modest and appropriate.

The goal for the outfits is being able to minimize the revealing of skin. This includes super short shorts, strapless shirts, and tank tops with gaping holes in the armpits or plunged necklines. In the past CB has been concerned with the young ladies’ attire in particular.

“[The clothes worn by ladies in the past are] things that just really are not appropriate for a family event”, says Co-Dean of Students Mrs. Cecilia Powers.

To minimize the amount of skin shown at Holy Bowl the principals from Jesuit, St. Francis, and Christian Brothers held a meeting last year to discuss and compose a letter that was sent to parents and families, encouraging everyone to present themselves at Holy Bowl in a modest and respectful manner.

The letter seemed to be effective, as Mrs. Powers said there was major improvement in the dress code at last year’s Holy Bowl.

This year, the goal is to maintain and improve the positivity momentum we had last year while boosting and representing the blue spirit as much as possible.

“We want our schools to look like the great place it is,” say Mrs. Powers. So let’s keep it classy, CB!
