Falcon Football from a cheerleader’s perspective.

Although one may not initially think the Christan Brothers cheer squad play a big role in an intense high school football battle, the reality is they are extremely important and involved with the game itself — the Falcon cheer squard are very inspirational and often get the crowd involved through gleeful chants.

The Talon talked to a couple of the cheerleaders to see what Friday night lights from the track is all about.

“I’ve always admired the Christian Brothers cheerleaders as a young girl and I knew that someday I would be the one cheering at Holy Bowl,” said Alexa Bacher (’13), who has cheered all during all four of her years at CB.

Fellow senior cheerleader Sarah Simoes (’13) says her favorite part of being a cheerleader is the routines the squad performs at halftime.

“We can see what [the other team] has to offer and improve ourselves,” she said. “It is a challenge because everyone is watching us too.”

Referring to their halftime performances, Alexa jokingly remarks, “They [eventually] become beauty contests — we win those of course.”

The hype and buzz for Saturday night’s showdown with Jesuit has permeated the school, as Simoes, who has cheered for three years at CB, has some strong thoughts on the topic.

“I’m super excited for Holy Bowl!” she said. “Being on the field is so much better and more fun than being in the stands.”
