With Club Day coming up next Thursday, students are encouraged to come and check out all of the clubs that CB has to offer.
Following Lasallian Core Principles, Christian Brothers strives to be and is an inclusive community where everyone can feel welcomed. Club Day is a chance for CB to act on those principles by allowing students “ to feel like they belong [to] something outside of the classroom”, said Ms. Patti Gallagher, moderator of the French Club and the International Club, a new club on campus.
Ms. Gallagher’s International Club and French clubs, are about “breaking stereotypes.” Particularly, in her International Club, she wishes to increase “global awareness” of other cultures that are present in the CB community.
Each club brings something a little bit different to CB and there are many new clubs that will be incorporated into the community, with the International Club being one of them. Other new clubs include: the Ukulele Club, the CB Block Club, the Beatz Club, the Dinner Club, and lastly the Political Club, moderated by Mr. Michael Hood.
Mr. Hood wishes to implement inclusivity into his club in hopes of having open discussions about current political issues which will give students a chance to, in his words, be “open minded about views that are not their own.”
Remember, if you can’t find a club that meets your interests or if you have any good ideas for one, CB is always encouraging the creation of new clubs in order to make for a more inclusive community. All one needs to do is feel strongly about their interest to unite some of their friends and venture to find a moderator. It is that easy.
So don’t forget to come and check out all of the new and returning clubs on Club Day, September 20th.
