Find out how the CB men’s soccer team fared against rivals Jesuit.

This past Wednesday, the Christian Brothers men’s soccer team l traveled to Carmichael to take on Jesuit at the Marauders’ home field.

“[This] early season battle [was a way to] gauge what we need to work on in the season,” Falcons Head coach Jacob Hunley (’96) said.

Coach Hunley added that although this year’s team is young, the squad has a lot of potential that could result in an exciting season for the Falcons.

Unfortunately, Christian Brothers fell short against Jesuit, taking a 2-0 loss against a Marauders side ranked number four in the nation.

Despite the result, the Falcons submitted some memorable plays, including some magnificent saves by CB goalkeeper Gavin Owens (’13), as well as solid contributions from Daniel Sipes (’13), as well as underclassmen Jackson McMullin (’15) and Louis Heinzer (’15).

CB’s captain Rob Belme (’13) had some words of encouragement for his team following the game.

“[Our takeaway from this game is] to learn from our mistakes and then get better,” he said.

“We have to go out and pretend that every team is Jesuit, and play our hearts out,” added Andrew McGee (’14).

The boys hope to bring this energy and focus to their next game, Wednesday September 5th at El Camino High School. The full men’s varsity soccer schedule can be found at cbathletics.org.
